Deterministic state constrained optimal control problems without controllability assumptions

چکیده
In the present paper, we consider nonlinear optimal control problems with constraints on the state of the system. We are interested in the characterization of the value function without any controllability assumption. In the unconstrained case, it is possible to derive a characterization of the value function by means of a Hamilton-Jacobi-Bellman (HJB) equation. This equation expresses the behavior of the value function along the trajectories arriving or starting from any position x. In the constrained case, when no controllability assumption is made, the HJB equation may have several solutions. Our first result aims to give the precise information that should be added to the HJB equation in order to obtain a characterization of the value function. This result is very general and holds even when the dynamics is not continuous and the state constraints set is not smooth. On the other hand we study also some stability results for relaxed or penalized control problems. AMS Classification: optimal control problem, state constraints, Hamilton-Jacobi equation. State-Constrained Stochastic Optimal Control Problems via Reachability Approach
This paper deals with a class of stochastic optimal control problems (SOCP) in presence of state-constraints. It is well-known that for such problems the value function is, in general, discontinuous and its characterization by a Hamilton-Jacobi equation requires additional assumptions involving an interplay between the boundary of the set of constraints and the dynamics of the controlled system...
متن کاملnonsmooth maximum principle for control problems in finite dimensional state space
In a standard free end nonsmooth control problem in finite dimensional state space, a nonsmooth maximum principle is proved, in which the adjoint inclusion is sharper than the usual one. For end constrained problems, the same result holds, provided conditions ensuring local controllability are satisfied. The adjoint inclusion is expressed by means of a type of generalized gradient of the pseudo...
متن کاملEquivalent a posteriori error estimates for spectral element solutions of constrained optimal control problem in one dimension
In this paper, we study spectral element approximation for a constrained optimal control problem in one dimension. The equivalent a posteriori error estimators are derived for the control, the state and the adjoint state approximation. Such estimators can be used to construct adaptive spectral elements for the control problems.
متن کاملAnalysis and approximations of terminal-state tracking optimal control problems and controllability problems constrained by linear and semilinear parabolic partial differential equations
Terminal-state tracking optimal control problems for linear and semilinear parabolic equations are studied. The control objective is to track a desired terminal state and the control is of the distributed type. A distinctive feature of this work is that the controlled state and the target state are allowed to have nonmatching boundary conditions. In the linear case, analytic solution formulae f...
متن کاملStochastic Controllability of Linear Systems With State Delays
A class of finite-dimensional stationary dynamic control systems described by linear stochastic ordinary differential state equations with a single point delay in the state variables is considered. Using a theorem and methods adopted directly from deterministic controllability problems, necessary and sufficient conditions for various kinds of stochastic relative controllability are formulated a...
